I am writing to you as a resident, stakeholder, business owner, constituent and or voter. I have been impacted by our homeless/mental health/addiction crisis in one capacity or another. The homeless crisis in Los Angeles County is not just a housing crisis, it’s also an addiction and mental health crisis- the cause of the effect!
I need you as my elected official to:
- Address this epidemic and discuss this in your meetings and social media outreach.
- Increase funding for drug, alcohol mental health programs, in addition to developing more solutions.
- Increase the amount of recovery bridge housing for those looking for safe and sober living.
- Increase board-and-care-home that house and service those with the most critical mental health issues.
Over 60% of our homeless deal with addiction, so why are we not discussing the main contributor of this complex issue.
