Helping Places is providing a hub of information and support at a sensitive intersection of addiction, mental health and homelessness.

We are creating a dialogue to address these issues, providing a directory of services, and a starting point for those looking to help others. This directory does not exist in this form anywhere, it is L.A. County localized and there is a  focus on these co-occurring disorders that are a root of homelessness. The directory is simple to use so it can help people quickly find the services that they need. Every minute of every hour is valuable when people are in need and ready to receive services.

There is a built-in letter writing and social media campaign so voters can advocate the L.A. County Supervisors, L.A. City Council and Mayor to increase funding for Addiction, Mental Heath, Homeless Housing services and provide more recovery Recovery Bridge Housing and Board-And-Care Homes. This is not a political campaign, we are advocating to spotlight these issues and increase a dialogue.

In 2019, the L.A. Homeless Count, reported a 12% increase for the county of L.A. - a total of 59,000. The city of Los Angeles saw a 16% increase in the City with 32,000 more people living on the streets. Measure H and HHH was the county and city response to this epidemic. Measure H, an LA County bond, promises to solve the homeless problem by getting more people off the street while Measure HHH, City of LA bond, are funds to build 10,000 affordable housing units. In conjunction The City of Los Angeles endorsed United Way’s “Everyone In” campaign. The campaign incorrectly coined term, “the Homeless Crisis is a Housing Crisis”. Much of Measure H  and “Everyone in” has taken a one-sided approach to an epidemic that has multiple fronts to battle.

We feel that our Homeless Crisis is not just a Housing Crisis, it is an Addiction and Mental Crisis.

Will you help us change the narrative and focus on the Cause and not just the Effect?
